Wooridul Hospital president Sang Ho Lee had a special lecture about minimum invasion operating technique of thoracic spine disc disease at ‘The Third Asia minimum invasion spine surgery and treatment Society (ACMISST)’ where open in Antalya, Turkey from 6th to 9th. This society was open with 250 spinal surgeons that they are spinal surgeon (neurosurgery, orthopedics) of Asia and Europe.
Using in combination with microscope and endoscope is widespread already. Korea is the first nation to develop safe operating technique by using in combination with microscope and endoscope in thoracic spine disc disease as well as the lumber and the cervical spine. So through this society, it went out as a new technology.
President Sang Ho Lee said, “Now, herniated thoracic spine disc surgery by using in combination with microscope and endoscope is gained recognition for stability and effect from Arizona medical college spinal center, USA. Unlike traditional surgery, patients can walk on operation day.” and “Minimize the wound is world-wide trend already. We will inform domestic superior medical technique and work on technology development through continuous exchanges with global great minds.”
This surgery is operated in this way. Removing herniated disc by inserting percutaneous endoscope to back (0.6cm in diameter) after widening neuropore about 1.5cm by using microscope. According to Speech data, 26 of 28 got better, so rate of success is 93%. 1 of 2 who had no effect did assisted thoracoscopic surgery, and another 1 did endoscopy operation as retreatment.
